Chapter Seven

Sheila blinked slowly. A wide grin cracked her face as she stretched her well-used body. She throbbed and ached in places she’d forgotten she had.

She was tired, deliciously so. The ache in her muscles was a good ache, a welcomed one. Who knew that a puddytat could have moves like that?

Wait. What? She shot up and looked around, gulping loudly.

Oh, shit, she panicked for a moment until she realized he was gone.

So, that happened. She reached up and ran her hands along her neck. He was true to his word. No claiming bite.

Sheila wouldn’t dwell too long on the feeling of disappointment that rose for a moment. Instead, she sat up and looked around the ornate room. It was just as fine as the rest of the huge house which if she’d picked up on everything correctly was Leo’s childhood home, while also being the dwelling place of the Lion Pride’s current King.

Fuck. Was he the son of an Enforcer? A Guard? Whatever the fuck these pussies had for hierarchy, she didn’t know, but maybe he was involved or related somehow? It was sort of bizarre they had a King, but whatever. To each his own.

She’d been in such a fury of hormones and emotions, she hadn’t bothered getting any of the answers she needed. Grabbing her cell, she realized hours had passed since she’d basically attacked Leo, and well, had the actual best sex of her life.

No joke. She had never come so long or so hard before. And from what she knew of mates, the need to consummate their relationship would only grow until they were both equally claimed. Afterwards, there would still be even more sex. That’s how it was with Shifters.

Sex, sex, sex. Not too bad if you didn’t mind the whole pregnant thing. Hell, even then there was sex. According to Lucy, sex with your mate got better each and every time. But sex didn’t scare Sheila. Being a mom certainly did. What if she sucked at it? She loved her mother, but the woman was no kind of parent.

Sheila had grown up around the graybeards of her MC. Those old Wolves had been patient when it was called for, and stern too. Her Pack mates were loving and tight neat, but not exactly demonstrative. Fuck. She would be a terrible mother.

But even that fear didn’t stop her body from heating up just thinking about Leo. She grabbed the sheet and inhaled, breathing in the fresh-rain-on-a-grass-field scent that was all him. It was sort of like nature’s way of ensuring destiny didn’t fuck things up, she supposed. That attraction, that never ending need to be with him.

Shit. She really didn’t appreciate waking up to an empty room. What the heck had happened to her life? Sheila was out of control and all because of one overgrown tabby. The fucker.

One minute she was all aloof, handling the whole pretense of their mating just fine with no howdy do’s about the whole damn thing. She’d agreed
